Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines

There isn't any Nile on this blog. I'm fixing that now.

DL

Sage Francis

Sage's first and third album, I don't really enjoy the second one so I won't post it today. Just enjoy these, they're both amazing.

DL

Nostromo - Ecce Lex

Technical blow your head off metal. They used to share their guitarist with Mumakil before they stopped playing in 2005. So sad.

DL

Black Sheep Wall - I Am God Songs (again)

Re-post because this deserves more attention. Brutal sludgecore, imagine the misanthropy of Eyehategod and the suffocating atmosphere of Buried At Sea. Not an easy listen by any stretch of the imagination, but well worth it if you're in the right mood.

DL

Embrace the End - Ley Lines

Remember when the term 'metalcore' didn't connote bullshit? This is that. Riffy, technical, fast, and with nary a breakdown in sight.

DL

Meshuggah - I

One more EP, this time by Meshuggah. This is a 24mins demonstration of swedish mathcore, surprising, disturbing, technically impressive and, more than that, totally insane. Getting old, but still as solid as new. Must be something metal and furnitures have in common in Sweden.

DL

Citizen Fish / Leftöver Crack - Deadline

Some good-ass tunes. If you like ska or punk or whatever you'll find something to enjoy here.

DL

Isis - Demo

The first Isis demo, self-producted and released in 1998. I just found it by chance, and it makes me think today is a lucky day.

DL

I found it on http://www.thesirenssound.com , you should take a look on this.

Jesu - Jesu

I broke up with my girlfriend tonight.
Therefore: depression songs.

Note: CD quality long album and me not giving a fuck means uploading on Megaupload. If the link dies and you still want it, shoot me an email and I'll do it up on Mediafire.
DL

Bloodhorse - Horizoner

Sludgey stoner rock for fans of Torche, Kylesa, and the like. It's good if you like riffs.

DL

Greymachine - Vultures Descend

Aaron Turner meets Justin Broadrick for some Brutal Indus Merzbow Inspired project. The first available track has nothing to do with what I could have expected from those two working together, but it's far from bad. It really sounds like Godflesh, which means like Isis at their beginning. Official release on August 4th, I just can't wait!

Download "Vultures Descend"

The Black Dahlia Murder - Unhallowed

At The Gates' hyped-up American cousin.

DL

Isis - Sawblade EP

This EP is very disapointing : it came just after the Mosquito Control and The Red Sea, which are way better. But it's also one of the less known piece of work by Isis, and the Godflesh cover Streetcleaner is pretty awesome. A must-have, only for that song.

DL

Eagle Twin - The Unkindness of Crows

These guys opened up for Sunn O))) and are signed to Southern Lord, so you probably already have a good idea of what they sound like. Doomy, droney, bluesy metal is the order of the day here, and it's damn good. Check it out.
Can't find a decent image of the cover art, so here's them.

DL

The Black Angels - Passover

Psychedelic rock band that just added a weird sounding vocalist and an actual production to something already heard a thousand times. For fans of the 60's who don't worship Morisson.

DL

Godspeed You! Black Emperor

A band that needs to get back together. Chronological order, the top is the most recent. The middle two are essential.

Rotten Sound - Murderworks

Good grindcore makes me happy.

DL

Hellmouth - Destroy Everything, Worship Nothing

These guys opened up for The Casualties and Leftover Crack last week... great punkish metal. Or metalish punk?

Also: Hi, Lexie.

DL

Marvel Zombies

More comics for you to enjoy. This is just as silly/absurd/great as it sounds. If you've ever wanted to see Spider-man devour Mary Jane and Aunt May, or the Avengers rip Jasper to pieces, here you are. The original 5 issue series, the "Dead Days" One-Shot, and an Ultimate Fantastic Four tie-in here, more to come.

DL

A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons

Re-posting because it's still really friggin good. GY!BE members, which you probably already knew. Ephraim's voice takes a little getting used to, but I actually like it. I wish these guys would tour again, them live is truly an experience. 4 long songs, all of which are excellent, especially the first two. A lot of people call this post-rock, but I don't really see any relation between this and the vast majority of post-rock bands. I'd call this album psychedelic folk, similar to Comus. Listen.

DL

Trentemøller - The Last Resort

Wonderful abstract minimal from Denmark. I really don't know what else to write... I just finished watching The Big Bang Theory season 2, I know since last night that i'm allergic to cats, and the weather is so hot there it keeps me at home listenning to music my neighbors don't understand... Anyway listen to Trentemøller, you won't regret!

DL

Reign Supreme - Testing The Limits Of Infinite

Great metallic hardcore. Recommended if you like... well, metal or hardcore.

DL

Abysmal Torment - Omnicide

I really, really like this a lot. Brutal, technical, evil death metal. Easily one of my favorite metal albums so far this year. I can even deal with the occasional pig squeals, this is so good.

DL pt 1
DL pt 2

Shaolin Cowboy

Just to change things up, here's a comic I just finished reading. I'll probably add a few more in the days to come.
Not a whole lot in the way of plot or character development here, just lots of really silly/awesome ultraviolence. Martial arts crabs, demon-possessed sharks, city-sized reptiles, a talking donkey... this has it all. Only 7 issues released (so far), but here they are. Enjoy.

DL

Coerce - Silver Tongued Life Licker

Blood Brothers, Capsule, These Arms Are Snakes.
I'll write an actual description later.

DL

Comity - You Left Us Here

In the french metal scene, there are two kinds of bands: the ones that sound french, as Eths, Gojira or Hacride, and the ones that go deeper and deeper so they can't be assimilated to any origin, as Nostromo, Blut Aus Nord and many great others. Comity is part of this; dirty voice, slow guitars, almost-mathcore parts and an only-one-17mn-song-EP. For fans of Meshuggah, Deathspell Omega, anything that smell gasoline and mudd. See what I mean?

DL

By the way...

Everyone say hi to 62the6, Library Laundromat's new contributor. Hi 62the6!

Myra Lee - 2

Great french DIY Noise Hardcore. Similar to Lightning Bolt, with more metal influences.

DL

Bronze Chariot - Saqqara

Doom-progressive-hardcore from Australia. Expansive post rock-isms are found in abundance, but without the typical build ups and crescendos. Riff based and an all around engaging listen. These guys contacted me themselves, so obviously they really want you to hear this. Listen!

DL

Goatwhore - Carving Out The Eyes Of God

This could stand to be a song or two shorter, but otherwise it's great. Thrashy black/death, a lot thrashier than A Haunting Curse. I also like this a lot more than A Haunting Curse.
