Microfilm

Quality instrumental post rock along the lines of Explosions in the Sky, God Is An Astronaut, Mogwai.. the usual. If you haven't already dismissed this, highly recommended.

Gogol Bordello - Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike

Gypsies + Punk rock. The album title is pretty self explanatory. Kinda similar in execution to Flogging Molly's whole Celtic schtick. Except, you know, with gypsy music.

DL

Mouth of the Architect - The Ties That Blind

Atmospheric sludge. Post-metal. Whatever. I like this a lot. For fans of Rosetta, Neurosis/Isis, or any other Translation Loss band.

DL

Landmine Marathon - Rusted Eyes Awake

Since literally no one downloaded this the first time around, here it is again. Riffy, somewhat grindy death metal. It's really good, I promise.

DL

Jex Thoth - Jex Thoth

Black Sabbath: Woodland Pagan Edition

DL

Abysmal Dawn - Programmed To Consume

These guys opened for Abigail Williams on Thursday. They were pretty awesome.

DL

Bear vs Shark - Right Now, You're In The Best Of Hands

These guys are probably the best thing to ever come out of Michigan.
Reunion, please to be having.

DL

A Beautiful Machine - Solar Winds, White Noise, Antigravity

*dramatic voice*
Music....
From SPAAAAACE

Space themed shoegazery post rock that I actually like and isn't total garbage.

DL

Eyehategod - Dopesick

RAWRBLARGHARRR

DL

Hacride - Amoeba

Progressive-tech-death from France. For fans of Meshuggah, Gojira, etc. Will probably post their new album later in the week.
Thanks to Arthur Bertin for the recommendation.

Comus - First Utterance

70's psychedelic folk. Mikael Akerfeldt listens to them, you should too.

DL

Leftöver Crack - Mediocre Generica

Anti-police, anti-racist, anti-homophobia, anti-religion, Crack Rock Steady.

DL

The Red Chord - Fused Together In Revolving Doors

It's 2 AM and I am not tired in the slightest. Here's some tech-death-grind-core to bring the late night m0sh (br0).

DL

Fleshgod Apocalypse - Oracles

Yaaaaaay

Myspace
DL

Suffocation - Blood Oath

Yessssssssssss!

DL

Animosity - Animal

Death metal. Decently produced. Technical without wankery. Breakdowns are few, unforced, and well done. Gets lumped in with the deathcore scene for some reason.

DL

Fugazi - In On The Kill Taker

Yup.

DL

Parhelia - Oceans Apart EP

Quality instrumental post rock. Recommended if you like Fire In Our Throats... era Pelican, God Is An Astronaut, etc.

Myspace
DL

Black Moth Super Rainbow - Drippers EP

Not essential, but pretty cool. If you like this band it's definitely worth having. If you're new to these guys I recommend starting with Dandelion Gum or Start A People.

DL

Mothra - Dyes

Technical, noisy hardcore for fans of Breather Resist, Dillenger Escape Plan, Coalesce, etc.

DL

Priestbird - In Your Time

Saw these guys open for Pelican two years ago, picked up this CD, and haven't heard a word about them since. Oh well, this band used to be called Tarantula AD, then broke up and reformed under this name. If you happen to be familiar with Tarantula AD, this sounds completely different. Their sound ranges from riffy stoner rock to mellow experimental and progressive bits. Somewhere in between Pelican, Kyuss, and King Crimson.

DL

Funeral Mist - Marantha

Review

Somewhat experimental or avant garde black metal, I guess. Has its share of blastbeats, but throws some other elements in.

DL

The Suicide Machines - Destruction By Definition

If the first song doesn't have you dancing like an idiot, your inner teenager is dead.

DL

Geisha - Die Verbrechen Der Liebe

Post-music.
I recommend at least giving a listen for the simple fact that I can't name another single band that sounds like this.
If I had to describe it, I'd describe it as sounding like Lightning Bolt, Mogwai, Black Sabbath, and maybe Merzbow getting in a fight.

DL

Shellac - 1000 Hurts

The best noise rock.

DL

Warcollapse - Defy!

Crusty, grindy punk. Somewhat reminiscent of older Napalm Death. It's fast (or occasionally doomy), raw, and pissed off.

DL

Minsk - With Echoes In The Movement Of Stone

New.

DL

From Monument To Masses - On Little Known Frequencies

New. Active, un-boring post rock. It's really good.
Track 7 is misspelled, it should be 'Let Them Know It's Christmastime'.

DL

Sunn O))) - Monoliths & Dimensions

New.
You know what to expect from this band.
Great if you like this kind of stuff.
Terrible if you don't.

DL part 1
DL part 2

Godflesh - Hymns

Their last album.
