The Adventure Continues!

At eatingsnowflakes.wordpress.com.

Business as usual will continue shortly, hopefully with less irritation!

Eryn Non Dae - Hydra Lernaïa

It sounds so much like Meshuggah that I almost didn't listen to it carefully. It would have been a great mistake, since Eryn Non Dae's first album is full of great ideas. I keep listenning to this with a stupid smile on my face, I hope you'll enjoy it to!

GREYMACHINE - Disconnected

Stream, don't get too excited. It'll probably leak before too much longer.

Also, I'm probably going to move the blog over to Wordpress before too much longer. Blogger keeps deleting posts without even telling me or threatening to delete the blog, and it's getting kinda tiresome. I'll post a link within the next few days, when I get around to actually making a new blog.

Pelican - The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw

I couldn't decide what to post, so I here's my random selection.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a CD rip, but my copy is all the way upstairs and I just can't be bothered to go that far right now.

By the way, if you ever have to choose between seeing Pelican live and seeing Keelhaul live, see Pelican.
Keelhaul is the most one of the most boring bands I've ever seen. Pelican actually seem to have fun and enjoy their own music.
People who saw Isis' last American tour will surely agree with me.

Fugazi - The Argument

Two or three years ago, my dad told me "you can't listen to hardcore if you've never listenned to Fugazi!". But he lent me The Argument, and I didn't really get where the hardcore was in this; it just looked like some awesome noise-something. Nowadays I know what he meant, and this remains my favourite Fugazi album.

Botch - We Are The Romans

I'm a little surprised that I haven't posted this already.
One of my favorite albums. Top 10, easily, if not top 5.

DL

The RIAA

If there is any single industry that deserves a painful death, it's the music industry.

These lawsuits are nothing short of malicious. 30 songs is $30 on the iTunes store. If a person is caught shoplifting $30 anywhere else, it's a misdemeanor, deserving a slap on the wrist.
But steal from the RIAA, they'll fuck you up for the rest of your life.
Lawsuits accomplish nothing other than the continued alienation of fans and the ruining of a few innocent, law-abiding people's lives.

Don't buy RIAA CDs. Borrow them from someone else or steal them off the internet. Let's hurry up and put an end to these malignant, vicious companies.

Danzig.
Fuck that guy.

Sabertooth Zombie - ...And Your Fathers Are Dead In The Ground

This album really clicked hard with me for some reason. Southern rock hardcore, with a few moments of a grind and a few others of sludge.

The Casualties - Made In NYC

I like these guys. They used to be a really fun live band. This album is the proof.

Honestly, I think these guys need to take a few months off, maybe a year, and relax. They've toured pretty constantly for the past couple years, and the last time they came around here, they just looked tired. Take a break, guys.

Nadja - Touched + Truth Becomes Death

I had never realized how good is Nadja. If you don't consider that Drone bands are all the same, you could find an interest it this.

Progressive metalcore. Think Between The Buried And Me but less chaotic, or Rosetta but less spacey, or Old Man Gloom with more 'core-ness.

There isn't any Nile on this blog. I'm fixing that now.

Sage's first and third album, I don't really enjoy the second one so I won't post it today. Just enjoy these, they're both amazing.

Technical blow your head off metal. They used to share their guitarist with Mumakil before they stopped playing in 2005. So sad.

Black Sheep Wall - I Am God Songs (again)

Re-post because this deserves more attention. Brutal sludgecore, imagine the misanthropy of Eyehategod and the suffocating atmosphere of Buried At Sea. Not an easy listen by any stretch of the imagination, but well worth it if you're in the right mood.

Embrace the End - Ley Lines

Remember when the term 'metalcore' didn't connote bullshit? This is that. Riffy, technical, fast, and with nary a breakdown in sight.

DL

Meshuggah - I

One more EP, this time by Meshuggah. This is a 24mins demonstration of swedish mathcore, surprising, disturbing, technically impressive and, more than that, totally insane. Getting old, but still as solid as new. Must be something metal and furnitures have in common in Sweden.

Some good-ass tunes. If you like ska or punk or whatever you'll find something to enjoy here.

Isis - Demo

The first Isis demo, self-producted and released in 1998. I just found it by chance, and it makes me think today is a lucky day.

Jesu - Jesu

I broke up with my girlfriend tonight.
Therefore: depression songs.

Note: CD quality long album and me not giving a fuck means uploading on Megaupload. If the link dies and you still want it, shoot me an email and I'll do it up on Mediafire.

Bloodhorse - Horizoner

Sludgey stoner rock for fans of Torche, Kylesa, and the like. It's good if you like riffs.

DL

Greymachine - Vultures Descend

Aaron Turner meets Justin Broadrick for some Brutal Indus Merzbow Inspired project. The first available track has nothing to do with what I could have expected from those two working together, but it's far from bad. It really sounds like Godflesh, which means like Isis at their beginning. Official release on August 4th, I just can't wait!

Download "Vultures Descend"

The Black Dahlia Murder - Unhallowed

At The Gates' hyped-up American cousin.

DL

Isis - Sawblade EP

This EP is very disapointing : it came just after the Mosquito Control and The Red Sea, which are way better. But it's also one of the less known piece of work by Isis, and the Godflesh cover Streetcleaner is pretty awesome. A must-have, only for that song.

Eagle Twin - The Unkindness of Crows

These guys opened up for Sunn O))) and are signed to Southern Lord, so you probably already have a good idea of what they sound like. Doomy, droney, bluesy metal is the order of the day here, and it's damn good. Check it out.
Can't find a decent image of the cover art, so here's them.

Marvel Zombies

More comics for you to enjoy. This is just as silly/absurd/great as it sounds. If you've ever wanted to see Spider-man devour Mary Jane and Aunt May, or the Avengers rip Jasper to pieces, here you are. The original 5 issue series, the "Dead Days" One-Shot, and an Ultimate Fantastic Four tie-in here, more to come.

A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons

Re-posting because it's still really friggin good. GY!BE members, which you probably already knew. Ephraim's voice takes a little getting used to, but I actually like it. I wish these guys would tour again, them live is truly an experience. 4 long songs, all of which are excellent, especially the first two. A lot of people call this post-rock, but I don't really see any relation between this and the vast majority of post-rock bands. I'd call this album psychedelic folk, similar to Comus. Listen.

Trentemøller - The Last Resort

Wonderful abstract minimal from Denmark. I really don't know what else to write... I just finished watching The Big Bang Theory season 2, I know since last night that i'm allergic to cats, and the weather is so hot there it keeps me at home listenning to music my neighbors don't understand... Anyway listen to Trentemøller, you won't regret!

I really, really like this a lot. Brutal, technical, evil death metal. Easily one of my favorite metal albums so far this year. I can even deal with the occasional pig squeals, this is so good.

Shaolin Cowboy

Just to change things up, here's a comic I just finished reading. I'll probably add a few more in the days to come.
Not a whole lot in the way of plot or character development here, just lots of really silly/awesome ultraviolence. Martial arts crabs, demon-possessed sharks, city-sized reptiles, a talking donkey... this has it all. Only 7 issues released (so far), but here they are. Enjoy.

Coerce - Silver Tongued Life Licker

Blood Brothers, Capsule, These Arms Are Snakes.

Comity - You Left Us Here

In the french metal scene, there are two kinds of bands: the ones that sound french, as Eths, Gojira or Hacride, and the ones that go deeper and deeper so they can't be assimilated to any origin, as Nostromo, Blut Aus Nord and many great others. Comity is part of this; dirty voice, slow guitars, almost-mathcore parts and an only-one-17mn-song-EP. For fans of Meshuggah, Deathspell Omega, anything that smell gasoline and mudd. See what I mean?

Bronze Chariot - Saqqara

Doom-progressive-hardcore from Australia. Expansive post rock-isms are found in abundance, but without the typical build ups and crescendos. Riff based and an all around engaging listen. These guys contacted me themselves, so obviously they really want you to hear this. Listen!

DL

Goatwhore - Carving Out The Eyes Of God

This could stand to be a song or two shorter, but otherwise it's great. Thrashy black/death, a lot thrashier than A Haunting Curse. I also like this a lot more than A Haunting Curse.
