Bongripper - Hippie Killer
Our dear friends at Blogger decided to delete my Last House On The Left post due to its copyright infringement, but apparently did not take issue with the other 120 or so posts on this blog.
Alright then.
Anyway, here's some cool doom/sludge/post-whatever from Chicago. Mostly instrumental. Heavy and riffy, not all that atmospheric.

Converge - When Forever Comes Crashing
I really don't know why people love Petitioning The Empty Sky so much. Other than 'The Saddest Day', it's pretty mediocre. This is their best pre-Jane Doe album by far. Much noisier and more chaotic than their later material.

Isis - In The Absence Of Truth
Their latest and least metal release. It still has glimpses of heaviness (especially in Holy Tears), but this is mostly a post-rock release. It's still good, just not as good.
Now all I can do is wait for Wavering Radiant (May 5). Aaron Turner apparently noted in an interview that recent recordings have sounded too 'clean,' so hopefully it'll be better.

Isis - Panopticon
By this point Isis have basically left the sound of Mosquito Control and The Red Sea behind. This album takes the progression towards atmosphere and quieter passages a step further.

Isis - Oceanic
Their best album, and my personal favorite album ever. It retains some of the heaviness of their earlier work, but with more emphasis on the quieter, clean passages that will become more prominent in the next two albums. Basically it's the best thing ever.

Isis - Sgnl>05
Could best be described as Celestial Part Two, both musically and thematically. An extremely underrated release in my opinion.

Isis - Celestial
The album where they begin to incorporate more atmospheric/post-rock elements into their music. The focus is still mostly on the sludge side, but the music is less straightforward this time around.

ISIS - Mosquito Control EP
Because I'm already shitting myself over the idea of a new full length, I'm going to spend the next few days uploading most of ISIS's discography.
Once upon a time, ISIS used to be heavy as fuck.

Adai - ...I Carry
This great little EP is the debut by Adai, a two piece sludge/post-metal from Colorado. It's a riffier take on the genre than normal, more comparable to Russian Circles than the typical Cult of Neur-Isis cover band. It was produced by Kurt Ballou, so you know it's good.

Reel Big Fish - Turn The Radio Off
Classic (third wave) ska album.
It took me more than two minutes to find a decent link to this album, which is entirely too much time.

Flogging Molly - Within A Mile Of Home
I'm on a binge of this stuff.
For those who don't know, Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys play a subgenre known as Celtic punk, which is essentially punk rock with traditional instrumentation (acoustic guitar, mandolin, accordion, fiddle, etc.) in a combination that works way better than it should. Also, they often sound like pirates with eye patches, parrots, and mohawks.
